What does photoshop do?
Photoshop is basically a DPP ( Desktop Publishing Program ) and is used for graphics edition and image manupilation.
Basically the Adobe photoshop is uded to create / alter / manupilate images like photos, downloaded icons or scanned artwork / document.
By creating an image means that the image is created form mixing two or more images and by using drawing tools in the Adobe Photoshop. For web application or for software application we often need to make custom icons, buttons, lines etc.

By Altering or Manupilating an image means to change colors , shape , producing effects like making unimportant figures blur to make the important figure prominent, croping the image, modifing the size and scale of the image , etc.

Alteration also means to do technical modifications in the image like changing the mode from one type to other or changing number of bits per pixel etc.
